The entries are now open for the 2017 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards.
Over that past five years the Awards has attracted more than 530 entries and produced 50 different winning businesses across the city. We are continuing with the trend of unearthing and celebrating the excellent work of our business community in 2017, and we encourage businesses of all shapes and sizes to take advantage of this opportunity to share their story, promote their point of difference and celebrate their achievements.
The 2017 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards were launched this morning at the Lake Macquarie Business Network breakfast. The three Major Award Winners from 2016, including Amber Moncrieff of Hunter Plastic Surgery, Jennifer Holland of Throat Scope and Nathan Franks of Dynamic Business Technologies, came together at the event to discuss the topic A Winning Formula: Passion, Purpose and Persistence. The three speakers shared their secrets of success and provided a wonderful introduction to this year’s Awards by offering an insight into how their businesses benefited from not just the win, but from being named a finalist and from the entry process itself.
Amber Moncrieff, 2016 Lake Macquarie Business Person of the Year, explained to the audience that the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards are a valuable experience for all business owners:
“The Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards are fantastic on many levels; there is a certain benefit to the focus and discipline required when it comes to writing the submission and presenting tangible achievements and the promotional opportunities that are available to those who become finalists and/or winners are endless. The Awards are also a great tool in building business credibility and solidifying external relationships. For Hunter Plastic Surgery, one of the most important and lasting benefits of the Awards has been the chance to connect with other local businesses that are just like us – focused, service driven and high-energy.”
The 2017 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards feature 12 award categories and three major awards. The award categories focus on a range of business functionalities including branding & marketing, business practices, workplace culture, training and development, customer service, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability. In 2017 the Awards will also celebrate businesses that have embraced new and emerging technologies with the introduction of the Excellence in Digital Technology Award category.
The three major awards acknowledge the passion and drive of our City’s business leaders and celebrate the contribution of an individual or business to the Lake Macquarie community.
Winners of the 2017 Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner, which will be held on Saturday 22 July 2017 at Belmont 16s. Nine of the winners announced at the event will then have the opportunity to showcase their achievements on the State stage, thanks to the partnerships that have been established with the NSW Business Chamber Awards and the NSW SafeWork Awards.
Business Growth Centre Manager, Brett Gleeson explained: “The partnership with the NSW Business Chamber Awards is an exciting added benefit to the 2017 Awards, as is the partnership with the SafeWork State Awards. We are proud to present an opportunity for eight of our winners to go on and compete as finalists at the 2017 NSW Business Chamber Awards and one winner to be accepted as a phase two entrant for the SafeWork State Awards. These opportunities give our City and our leading businesses valuable exposure.”
The Awards, now in it’s sixth year, owes much of its success to the Sponsors, Partners and Prize Donors. In 2017 Dantia has come on board as the Major Sponsor, with SafeWork NSW committing to another year as a Support Sponsor.
“Without the generosity and support of the partners, sponsors and prize donors; we would not be able to present this important event. It is this support that makes the Awards the premier business event of Lake Macquarie and we thank you all”, advised Mr Gleeson.
To enter the 2017 Awards, businesses must be based in or have an operation in the Lake Macquarie LGA.
Entries will close on 22 May. Click here for more information on each category and to complete the entry forms.
